CLIENT: Various
PROJECT: Various Video Projects
The Challenge:
I’ve worked on a number of video projects for a range of clients. Whether stand alone, part of a campaign or e-learning course, or for social media I was always up for the challenge and collaboration that video and animation presented.
My Role:
On most of the videos I worked on, I concepted, came up with the visual style, and created the storyboards. I also worked very closely with animators and video editors throughout the process. At times I also did some of the animation myself.
The Solution:
No matter what the project or client, I always made sure to fully utilize the video medium to it’s full potential and always made sure it was in sync with any accompanying collateral to create a fully integrated and immersive experience.
Comcast Business Huddle
While at Sublime Media our Comcast Ulearn client came to us to create a course for their Huddle learning program. The Huddles were designed to take small groups of employees into sessions aimed at learning new tools to better their job performance and communication skills. Each huddle had a leader and this course was aimed at giving the leader strategies on how to run these sessions with meaningful results. To kick the course off we did an intro video of what to expect in the course.
THE SOLUTION
This was our first opportunity to align with the just launched Ulearn rebrand. Luckily their new brand fit well into this subject matter of learning and growth. Throughout the course and intro video we used their branded plant life illustrations to represent the growth aspect of these sessions and also brought in a human aspect through the use of character illustrations.
Microsoft Aspire Start Strong Program Launch
Microsoft had just launched a new career development program aimed at new employees in their first year. Through top key speakers, networking, and workshops, Start Strong is a program for those hungry to accelerate their new careers. At Sublime Media we were tasked with creating a launch video.
THE SOLUTION
When the client came to us their branding was in limbo, but they needed to move forward. Yay! Lol. Knowing that, we wanted to create something that utilized their branding, but was flexible to work on it’s own. The only brand element they had was what they called “noodles”. They had only used them in one instance and gave very little direction. We ran with the noodles and made them into a moldable element that lent it self nicely to animation.
Starbucks Prevention Planning
Starbuck’s Prevention Loss team had a video series on quick behavioral tools for their in store employees. One of the videos was aimed at preventative planning. The client wanted something very simple that everyone could relate to.
THE SOLUTION
We wanted the video to be driven by a scenario that happens to all of us. We used the story of loosing our keys to illustrate how simple preventative planning can help us avoid such annoying situations. We illustrated that idea with the latest Starbuck’s illustration style we had established for this video series. Simple set up and simple solution is what made this video memorable and opened up a new mindset for Starbucks employees.
Highmark Proof of Campaign Video
Hacker Group had executed Medicare campaigns for our client Highmark, a health insurance provider. The matrix was very complex, often making it difficult to understand. Hacker Group wanted to explain how they achieved the results they did in an easy to understand way.
THE SOLUTION
As an art directors on this project it was my role to create an experience that was welcoming and simplified the overwhelming data we worked with to create a strategy that produced 103,000 leads and 30,000 requests for sales follow up. We went with a very simple and flat style to not distract from the content but gave enough life to the characters and scenario to keep the viewer engaged.
